New York City Fashion Week in Your Home

Who says you can’t take New York City Fashion week into your own home? Here at W Design we find inspiration in everything. We are inspired by these six runway looks from this year’s New York City Fashion Week as seen in Harper’s Bazaar.

1) Calvin Klein: Color Blocking

Color blocking is a fun way to incorporate a variety of colors into a space. Choose complementary colors such as green and blue for a calming feel. Or, create a bolder look with a white canvas and a pop of color. We love navy blue and white! Try simple color blocking with tile, drapery, and bedding. (View all images)

2) Ralph Lauren: Glam Safari

African themed décor takes this glam safari look from the runway to the room. A neutral color palette of olive green, beige, and a deep brown keeps your space casual and cool. Masai figurines, hand carved wooden masks, and sculpture art add a true African feel to your room. Plus, you can never go wrong with animal print! (View all images)

3) Hugo Boss: Totally Tailored

Channel crisp, clean, and casual with an all white room. Try sheer drapes and upholstered armchairs and headboards in delicate fabrics to achieve this sophisticated look. A neutral color palette is refreshing and rejuvenating. Just remember to choose champagne over red wine in this space! (View all images)

4) Vera Wang: Black is the New Black

Vera Wang’s all black everything look reinforces the obvious – black is the new black. A hot new design trend we are seeing is black or dark colored walls. There are a few tips to follow when painting a room in a dark color. First, focus on the room’s natural light. It is important that the room is bright to keep it from feeling claustrophobic. Second, play up on accent colors. We lean towards neutral area rugs and bright accent colors such as turquoise. Lastly, it is imperative to paint your ceiling a light color to contrast the dark walls. Black walls instantly add a chic, modern twist to any space. (View all images)

5) Victoria Beckham: Graphically Gorgeous

Something they forget to teach in Geometry 101 – angles are everything! Victoria Beckham has it all figured out with this sleek geometric pattern. Mix and match different patterns, from drapery to throw pillows, for a contemporary, modern look. We love chevron! Try contrasting horizontal and vertical stripes next to one another for an edgy feel. (View all images)

6) Ralph Lauren: Fur Frenzy

Nothing screams luxury quite like fur! This winter, it seems, no look is complete without a fuzzy fur vest, headband, or coat. A faux fur throw, area rug, or sectional pillow can vamp up any space. It is an easy way to keep your space warm and cozy for these harsh, winter months! (View all images)
