We’re already on our SEVENTH week of Wednesdays with Wendy! Crazy how fast time flies! How are you liking our new blog series so far? We would love to hear your feedback and any topics you’d like for us to cover! Yesterday, our office got the new Anthropologie’s Fall House & Home collection in the mail. Needless to say we stopped everything we were doing to check it out. One of the items that really stood out was the Fleurir Mural wallpaper. This gorgeous vintage floral scene sparked the conversation of this week’s topic with Wendy…

Some of W Design’s favorite rooms to utilize bold wallpaper in are powder rooms, entryways, and laundry rooms. Typically, these areas are smaller in size with minimal amounts of furniture, allowing the wallpaper to really POP! The eye is immediately drawn to the walls of smaller spaces that have bright, bold colors and patterns. A kids room or nursery is also a fun spot to play up with prominent wallpaper.

Pull solid fabrics in neutral hues to keep the peace between a bold print and other pieces in your space. Surfaces in a beige, light pewter, or white finish compliment bold wallpapers well. This will allow the space to feel fluid without being too chaotic in color. A patterned wallcovering is a piece of art that should be treated as the focal point of a room.
If covering an entire room in a bold wallpaper feels too risqué for you, place wallpaper on a feature wall and paint the rest! Wallpaper an enclave, staircase, or behind a wet bar. Then, use correlating paint colors on the remaining wall space to pull the the design together.
