Have you ever wondered where W Design’s owner and principal designer, Wendy Berry, spends her downtime? Welcome to her Old Coast Oasis. This sprawling waterfront condo at Kalea Bay takes high-rise living to another level. After completing a model unit in Tower I, Wendy fell in love with the gorgeous views and luxurious amenities that Kalea Bay has to offer. In close proximity to W Design’s Naples Showroom, a condo in the brand new Tower I of Kalea Bay was a done deal. Join us for Part I of the tour to see the foyer, grand salon, kitchen and lanai!
Wendy wanted the space to feel casual, comfortable and sophisticated with a touch of coastal influence. This meant lighter finishes, stained wood elements and stand-out spaces for showcasing a curated collection of European artwork.
The private elevator opens up to a breathtaking Grand Salon full of natural light. The foyer’s shiplap walls add to the home’s coastal flair balanced with an edgy black and white abstract painting.
The main living space is enhanced with architectural details like a custom, black iron gridded mirror. Adjacent to the mirror, sits a delicate piece of live coral from Wendy’s summer getaway in Capri, Italy. The coral stands nearly three feet tall and sits in front of a custom painted glass panel in Sherwin Williams Bracing Blue. Wendy wanted to highlight this European keepsake in a way that was special. She did just that!
To anchor the space and add dimension, Legno Bastone’s Vienna floor boards were mitered into beams to line the ceiling in a grid pattern. The custom entertainment center features high gloss paint grade cabinetry with mirrored shelf backing.
Moving into the kitchen, this space takes on a clean, modern feel with the addition of open shelving and a polished black hood. Matte black hardware and a beveled subway tile that extends to the ceiling keeps the design classic and simplistic.
Rather than a formal dining room, a custom banquette serves as the designer’s eating area. Covered in a blue and white striped fabric, the breakfast nook feels cozy and whimsy. The Legno Bastone wood flooring seen throughout the home is carried up the wall and over to create a seamless floor to ceiling effect.
One of the highlights of living in Naples, Florida is the beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico. From the beach, or in this case, the 18th floor, the views are always incredible. The lani is covered in a porcelain tile laid in a herringbone pattern. The cozy patio furniture is perfect for sipping a glass of chardonnay and watching the gorgeous southwest Florida sunset – Wendy approved!
