3 Things to Consider When Choosing Decorative Throw Pillows

Welcome to our second week of Wednesdays with Wendy!! What did you guys think of last week’s post? Please share your comments and feedback- we love hearing from you! This week, Wendy will be giving us three pieces of advice in choosing the right throw pillow for your space.

Are you ready for some….??

Pillow Talk

1. Size & Shape Matters

pillow-talk1

Too small of pillows looks underwhelming and too large of pillows swallows your piece. Pillows should be in scale with its respected furniture piece. For a laid back, cozy look, choose oversized throw pillows in 24″ x 24″. A 12″ x 24″ lumbar looks sleek on a modern sofa with a low back cushion. To add height and dimension to a flat piece of furniture, layer a bolster next to a square throw. Always remember that a great shaped pillow starts with the insert. A down-blend insert is always W Design’s go-to!

2. Color Outside the Lines

pillow-talk2

There is no better (or easier) way to add a pop of color to your space than in your pillow selection. Take a risk and be bold in pattern and color, especially against a neutral furniture piece. A contrast in texture adds a layered, finished look to your space. Try pairing velvet against a linen sofa or a chenille against a leather sofa. Decorative trim in a pom pom, fringe, or satin welt gives each pillow a personality of its own!

3. $PLURGE (Seriously!)

pillow-talk3

Throw pillows are an opportunity to bring an entire room together. Fabrics can be very expensive, but throw pillows are the perfect place to splurge on some exquisite textiles. You can get a lot of look without having to re-upholster a whole sofa or re-do an entire window treatment. Throw pillows are a small dose of affordability that will go a long way!

How do you incorporate throw pillows into your space?

Woah! I’m really loving the template/theme of this blog. It’s simple, yet effective. A lot of times it’s hard to get that “perfect balance” between usability and visual appearance. I must say you’ve done a very good job with this. Also, the blog loads super fast for me on Chrome. Exceptional Blog!

Thanks so much for providing individuals with remarkably superb possiblity to read in detail from this site. It is usually very lovely and also jam-packed with a lot of fun for me personally and my office acquaintances to visit the blog really three times in one week to study the latest issues you will have. And of course, I am just always impressed with the breathtaking concepts you give. Certain 1 areas on this page are easily the most effective we have all ever had.
